15 Grammatical Errors that Make You Look Silly | Copyblogger

I don't want to be a nag but I can't overemphasize the importance of correct spelling and grammar in what you write at school.  This 'poster' and article helps you (and your students) avoid the most common grammatical transgressions.  This is a keeper.

Confession:  I have always struggled with spelling and grammar myself so I am super-vigilant about my own shortcomings... and my wife is the spelling and grammar nazi.

  1. + This is a great resource! I couldn't agree more that there is nothing that makes a person loose credibility faster than spelling and grammar mistakes.

  2. + I am generally a big spelling/grammar nazi, which makes this site cool for me. It is awesome to see these presented in a fun way that could be used in the classroom. Kids are going to enjoy this much more than me boringly telling them the same information. And this information is especially valuable.

  3. + These are the worst. Nothing drives me crazier than the use of "literally". It's one of the most overused words right now and it kills me to hear people say "I'm literally about to walk upstairs" or "I literally did that yesterday". It's becoming a filler word akin to "like" and it makes the user sound so ignorant. Obviously the your/you're and there/their/they're is insanity too... it never ceases to amaze me how difficult those are for people

  4. + I am horrible at grammar and I admit that I have to think about these rules often. This is useful for me if I ever get confused. I need to become more aware of all these errors so that I am able to teach my students about them as well.

  5. +I am a stickler for spelling and grammar. Just ask my fiance. I knew most of the rules they laid out in the article and am going to enforce them for sure!
