Jing, screenshot and screencast software from TechSmith

Want to show someone how to do something on the internet or with a piece of software?  Jing captures screen videos and voice and puts everything into a video format that can be shared with others.  Try adding a simple 'how-to' video to your blog or choose Jing to make a screencast to present your favorite teacher tool.

  2. + Using screencasts is such a neat way to teach someone how to use a piece of technology. This also makes it easy to share with anyone so you don't actually have to be right there with someone in order to show them how to do something.

  3. + I enjoy the user friendly nature of the screencast and jing software. Often teachers are hesitant to utilize new technology because of the learning curve involved. However, screen cast are easy to use in multiple ways in the classroom. Teachers can use this software for mini lessons, lectures or sub lesson plans. Students have the ability to re-watch the screencast if the missed something in the directions or in class. I plan on using screencasts when I become a teacher.

  4. + I love the idea of using this as your sub plans. How cool is it that even on a day off, your students can hear you explain the material. It is efficient and helps clear up confusion about what the sub should do. This is a great resource I can see myself using!

  9. I was very afraid that this would be difficult for me to pick up, since I'm not very tech savvy, but with the tutorial videos, it really made it quite easy! I look forward to using this tool to help me teach in my classroom.
